Drink Without Waste
Design Brief
Drink Without Waste is an initiative led by the Single-Use Beverage Packaging Working Group, who focused on reducing waste from beverage consumption. The design project emphasized on creating the recycling icon and water refilling icon, to promote and encourage that recycling is good practice.Design Challenge
There were numerous of recycling icons in the market. It was challenging to find a unique way to represent recycling.
Good job recycling!
The objective of the campaign was to encourage people to recycle. The recycling icon family consisted of 4 recycling categories: plastic bottles, glass bottles, liquid cartons, and aluminum cans. They shared the same thumbs up "Good job recycling!" symbol to bring positive vibes to people who recycled.

Water Refill Icon
Apart from recycling, Drink Without Waste would like to introduce a "free water refill" icon to the family. In order to reduce the consumption of plastic beverage containers, they encouraged people to bring their own bottle and refilled their water bottle on the designated restaurants or bakeries.

App Design
Most people mistrust the recycling system in Hong Kong. People would questioned if their empty plastic bottle really made it to the recycling factory, or it ended up like normal trash in the landfill. In order to put an ease to the doubt, I designed an app for Drink Without Waste. The app had 2 main functions: to view the details of the recycling and refilling locations on the map mode, and to monitor the live activity of the recycling on the factory mode.
